Alice Walton New Leggett Board Member

Carthage, MO - Alice L. Walton today has been elected to the Board of Directors of Leggett & Platt, Incorporated. Ms. Walton was elected to fill the vacancy created by the expansion of the Board to fourteen members. All fourteen members are nominees that shareholders are being asked to elect at the company’s Annual Meeting on May 13, 1998.

Ms. Walton is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Llama Company, an investment banking firm in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Llama was founded by Ms. Walton and other partners in 1988. She also has served as a director of Pace Industries since 1993. Leggett & Platt acquired Pace in 1996, making the L&P Aluminum Group the largest independent supplier of aluminum die castings in North America.
